New York Jets Star Davante Adams Gives His Take On ‘Surprising’ GM Firing

The New York Jets circus just keeps going as the team fired their general manager Joe Douglas this week which took many people by surprise. While the team has been playing poorly, it still came as a surprise that they would fire their GM who did exactly what Aaron Rodgers wanted throughout his entire tenure with the team.

The most recent move Douglas made was acquiring Davante Adams, Rodgers’ best friend, and he was asked how he felt about the firing and if it came as a surprise.

While many fans were quick to blame Rodgers for the second major firing the Jets have done this season, the writing had been on the wall that this could happen with how poorly the team has been playing. To make matters even more of a circus, the owner Woody Johnson apparently wanted Rodgers to be benched earlier in the season.

It is being reported now that Johnson does not want Rodgers to be the quarterback of the team next season.

Davante made an appearance on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams, and he was asked how he feels about the recent firing and if this came as a surprise. Adams shared that he felt both surprised and unsurprised by what happened as the team has been playing so poorly and this is what usually happens.

“It’s surprising but it’s not… when games aren’t being won and things don’t look the way they were intended to look, something’s gotta change,” Adams said.

The Jets are sitting at 3-8 with their playoff hopes being destroyed with every loss they have suffered. Every move the team has made has not led to better play and more wins, but rather just the opposite. When the team fired their best coach in the building Robert Saleh, they have gone 1-5 since.

It would make a lot of sense for the owner to not want Rodgers back for next year as this circus has gone on long enough. The team was much better last year with Zach Wilson at the helm and that should tell you all you need to know.

New York Jets’ fans are clearly fed up with the organization and have all been taking to social media to trash the team:

“The 2024 New York Jets are one of the biggest jokes in NFL history. Everyone gets held accountable besides Aaron Rodgers. My guess is Rodgers is back next year and whoever replaces Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas will be emasculated until Aaron is off the team,” one user wrote.

“Aaron Rodgers to the Jets will be talked about for generations as one of the worst personnel decisions in history,” wrote another.

“The #Jets should just hire Aaron Rodgers to be their head coach and general manager next year. He was already the de facto HC & GM for the past two seasons,” a third mused.

“Laughing stock,” added ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky.

“It’s been a bad 7 decades but this might be rock bottom,” another person said.

“I liked Douglas but he had to go! Jets need to clean out everyone down to the damn ball boy and janitor. Every last person needs to go.” a Jets fan chimed in.

“Joe Douglas is too good for the #Jets. Another dumb move for a franchise that has its head shoved so far up its own a– it’s remarkable. In under three years Joe Douglas will be reviving a franchise and the Jets will still be rebuilding. What a joke,” a second Jets fan countered.

Sadly, this is how Rodgers’ career will end after such an incredible career.
