The Cleveland Browns made the AFC Wild Card Round this season but have made a change at one of their most significant coaching positions. Adam Schefter is reporting that the Browns have hired former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey for the same position.
Dorsey is no stranger to the Cleveland Browns organization as he played for the team from 2006-08 so it makes sense for him to return to the team after more than 15 years. Below is the coaching resume that he has accumulated in his decade of coaching.
- 2013-17: Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach
- 2019-20: Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach
- 2021: Buffalo Bills passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach
- 2022-23: Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator
Ken Dorsey was fired midway through the 2023 regular season before Joe Brady took his place as the interim coordinator. It will be interesting to see how the Cleveland Browns offense shifts with the hiring of Dorsey.
How will Ken Dorsey’s offense look for the Cleveland Browns?
The Deshaun Watson trade has not paid dividends for the Cleveland Browns and is coming off a season-ending injury. However, adding Dorsey as his offensive coordinator could do wonders for both Watson and the offense as a whole.
During the 2023 season, the Browns survived a myriad of injuries and had a decent offensive output as they were tied for 10th in scoring (23.3 ppg), 19th in passing yards (217.2) and 12th in rushing yards (118.6). This offense under coach Kevin Stafanski has been a run-dominant offense but with Dorsey being a former quarterback and coaching the likes of Cam Newton during his MVP campaign and Josh Allen, the offense likely will shift to a heavier passing game.
