Cleveland has officially placed a member of their elite secondary on injured reserve. Grant Delpit had left this past week’s game against the Jaguars after he suffered a groin injury.
He did not return.
Since Cleveland placed him on injured reserve, he’ll miss a minimum of four games, meaning he won’t play for the rest of the regular season. Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot suggested that he could return for the playoffs.

Losing Delpit is a tough pill to swallow for this Cleveland Browns’ team.
He’s been extremely consistent, starting all 13 games, recording 77 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery.
He’s been one of the many reasons for their defense being so dominant. His ability to hold up the backend has been invaluable for them.
Cleveland recently rewarded the former LSU safety with a 36 million dollar contract extension that will keep him in brown and orange for the next three years. If Cleveland hadn’t extended him, he would’ve been a hot commodity on the free agent market.
In order to replace his production, the Browns promoted veteran Duron Harmon to the active roster from the practice squad. In limited action for the Bears, Harmon played relatively well, leaving Chicago with an 82.7 tackling grade in two contests, according to PFF.
Harmon should be able to immediately start over the inexperienced D’Anthony Bell. The Browns don’t need Harmon to even be good. They just need him to be average. The rest of the defense is so talented, it probably won’t even matter.
