On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns received a historic performance from wide receiver Amani Cooper. Late through the fourth quarter, the Alabama product has a ludicrous 11 receptions for 265 yards and two scores. However, not only did he set new personal records, but he also became the first Browns player to post back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

With a 13-yard catch late in the fourth quarter, Cooper also set the franchise record for most receiving yards in a game. Former wideout Josh Gordon tallied 261 receiving yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars 2013.
Cleveland Browns WR Amani Cooper: Becomes Franchise Record Holder
Cooper becomes the first wide receiver in Cleveland Browns’ history to post back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Ozzie Newsome is the only other player in franchise history ever to post two 1,000-yard seasons. Newsome, an NFL Hall of Famer and three-time All-Pro, spent his entire 13 NFL career with the Browns, posting 662 receptions, 7,980 yards, and 47 scores during that span.
Cooper entered Sunday 15 yards shy of 1,000 receiving yards on the season. He passed that number on the Browns’ first play from scrimmage, with quarterback Joe Flacco finding him deep for a 53-yard completion. Cooper had a career day in Week 16, posting ten receptions for 252 yards and two scores. He also converted on a two-point play. The 265 receiving yards pass his previous career high of 226, a mark he set during his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys.
Cooper had 78 receptions, 1,160 yards, and nine scores with the Browns last season, his first with the organization. The Alabama product has put together a spectacular NFL career, eclipsing 1,000 yards receiving six times in his career.
Cleveland Browns: Looking to Make a Playoff Push in 2023
Barring a meltdown, the Browns win on Sunday will mark their third in a row and their tenth of the season. Cleveland lost franchise signal-caller Deshaun Watson in mid-November. After using P.J. Walker and Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center, the team signed former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco. The results have been fantastic, with the former Baltimore Ravens gunslinger throwing for ten touchdowns in four games. The Browns could lock up the top spot in the AFC Wild Card race with a win in Week 17.
