The San Francisco 49ers announced just hours before the team was set to play the Green Bay Packers that one of their starters would miss the rest of the season. The 49ers have been hit hard by the injury bug before the postseason.

The 49ers ruled out defensive end Clelin Ferrell on Thursday. Ferrell was carted off the field in Week 18 after suffering a knee injury. The 49ers were forced to play starters against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18 due to having numerous players battling injuries in the late season.
The 49ers placed Ferrell on IR
According to a statement by the 49ers, Ferrell was placed on injured reserve Saturday. The former first-round pick will not be eligible to return in the postseason after the roster move.

Ferrell started in all 17 regular games for the 49ers. With Ferrell unavailable, the 49ers will rely on Chase Young to start in his place.
