The Cincinnati Bengals have arguably made the biggest franchise tag announcement thus far. This morning, they made it official that they were going to place their franchise tag on WR Tee Higgins. Shortly after that announcement, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor had strong words to describe Higgins.
Zac Taylor Happy About Keeping Tee Higgins
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Taylor had very positive things to say following the Bengals’ franchise tag announcement. Taylor mentioned that Higgins is an important part of their offense. His exact words were the following:
“Tee has done an outstanding job for us since we drafted him in 2020. I’m glad that he’ll continue to be a big part of our offense and our team.” -Zac Taylor
Cincinnati Bengals Moving Forward
Taylor has good reason to be happy about Higgins returning in 2024. Higgins is coming off a season where he had 656 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions in just 12 games.
Now, the Bengals will attempt to run it back in 2024. Cincinnati appears to want to try to win it all with this core group at least one more season where QB Joe Burrow can hopefully stay healthy. Burrow missed the final seven games of the 2023 season due to a wrist injury.
