Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a wrist injury in the Thursday Night Football matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Burrow threw a touchdown pass to running back Joe Mixon and grimaced in pain grabbing his hand after the throw. He was taken to the locker room and eventually ruled out for the rest of the game. Now, it is revealed how much time the star quarterback will miss, and Bengals’ fans will not like it.

Joe Burrow Injury
Burrow has officially been ruled out for the rest of the 2023 NFL season with a torn ligament in his right wrist. Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters, “We’re still gathering more information about that, but that seems to be where it’s headed right now.” This will mean that quarterback Jake Browning will take over the starting role on the team, at least until they sign another quarterback, perhaps a veteran.
The injury caught the attention of the NFL after it was revealed before the game that Burrow appeared to be wearing a brace on his right hand coming off of the team plane, even though he was not listed on the injury report this week, which is against the rules. Burrow was quick to address the video, though, and this is what he told reporters:
“It’s not uncommon for guys to wear compression sleeves on a plane because when you go up to that altitude things can swell up. In football, you have a lot of bumps and bruises. This is a completely new injury.”
Cincinnati Bengals 2023 Outlook
The star quarterback will finish his season with 2,309 passing yards 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Burrow had been dealing with an ankle injury at the beginning of the season, and he was just starting to fully recover from it. Now, he will miss the rest of the year with the torn ligament, which will be a devastating blow to the team and the fans.
Cincinnati is now 5-5 after the loss to the Ravens and currently sits in last place in the AFC North division. They will play against the Pittsburgh Steelers next week with Browning as their quarterback, which will be good for the Bengals to get a good idea of how the rest of the season will go. If Browning does not perform well, the team may look to shop for a quarterback, and there are some intriguing options still available.
