The Chicago Bears have the sixth-most cap space in the league with $69 million. However, having the sixth-most cap space does not mean that Chicago will not make any roster cuts this offseason since each team has at least one contract they would like to eliminate. Also, since they hired Ben Johnson as their new head coach, the Bears will build their offense around players who are scheme fits and part ways with those who are not.
The team made their first significant roster move of the offseason, parting ways with a veteran offensive player.
The Chicago Bears expected to release veteran offensive weapon with 50 career starts

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bears informed Gerald Everett that they plan on releasing him this offseason. As a result, they will free up $5.5 million in cap space and incur a dead cap hit of $1 million for 2025. With the release of Everett, they should have $74.5 million cap space.

The veteran tight end had a disappointing lone season with Chicago

Gerald Everett had a disappointing lone season with Chicago, failing to carve out a consistent role on offense, playing 246 (22%) snaps, and a career low in receptions, targets, yards, and touchdowns in his eight-year NFL career. He caught eight passes on 13 targets for 36 yards in 17 games and four starts.
Since Everett isn’t known for his blocking abilities as a tight end, the writing was on the wall and did not fit Ben Johnson’s scheme.
