The Chicago Bears traded for elite veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen. The former Los Angeles Charger wide receiver was traded for a fourth-round pick. The Bears will take on his $32 million against the cap.
Allen, 31, is entering the final year of the four-year contract extension he signed in 2020 and is due a $5 million roster bonus on Sunday. After declining to take a pay cut from the Chargers, he has a new home in Chicago.
With Darnell Mooney’s departure this offseason, the Bears were in many discussions for a wide receiver. DJ Moore was a revelation for the Bears this past season, having 96 receptions for 1,346 yards and eight touchdowns. It was the best receiving season for the Bears… ever.

Chicago Bears React to Allen Move
Now, joining Moore is an elite veteran weapon that can consistently get open regardless of coverage. DJ Moore seems excited about the addition of Allen.

Up until the trade for Keenan Allen, the best offseason move was the extension of cornerback Jaylon Johnson. Jaylon was given a four-year contract extension of $76 million. He is very excited to have two studs on the offensive side of the ball.

Billy, this is Keenan Allen. In just 13 games last year, he caught 108 balls for 1,243 yards and 7 TDs. He is open more than a 7/11. His defect: Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman don't believe in the forward pass, so we can get him for a fourth-round pick… pic.twitter.com/MDjA57kqas

How did the Bears get Allen?
Last year, the Bears traded back from the first overall pick to the Carolina Panthers. Since that trade, they have pulled in a haul. They have now received Darnell Wright, Keenan Allen, Tyrique Stevenson, and DJ Moore, and they still have two more top picks to use.
Hopefully, the Panthers can figure out how to get Bryce Young to an elite level.
