The Chicago Bears and Ryan Poles seem to have built a winning foundation through the first two weeks of NFL free agency.
Marquee additions at wide receiver, along the offensive line, and fortifying the secondary could pay significant dividends after Poles and the Bears presumably select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
How Chicago Bears Can Turn Things Around in 2024
After finishing in the NFC North basement in 2023, at least one analyst believes the Chicago Bears have the pieces to make a legitimate run at the postseason, even in a loaded division that includes the reigning champion Detroit Lions and rapidly ascending Green Bay Packers.
NFL Network’s Judy Battista lists the Chicago Bears as one of the teams to watch around the league primed for a 2024 turnaround.
“The Bears won seven games last season,” Battista writes for NFL.com. “But, with the widespread assumption they’ll draft Caleb Williams first overall, and with weapons like Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift and Gerald Everett joining DJ Moore, expectations are soaring.
“Keeping Jaylon Johnson was a huge win. If Williams can have anywhere close to the kind of rookie season that Stroud did, the Bears should be pushing for a playoff spot while also embarking on a headline-making rollout of one of the most highly anticipated draftees in years.”
The past two seasons have seen Poles and the Bears bolster the talent on the roster through some major free agent signings, but the upcoming draft, and the addition of a potential franchise quarterback could hold the key to the franchise returning to glory.
