The Chicago Bears have all eyes on them in the NFL. Why is this? Well, they own the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
This has led to a lot of speculation as to who the Bears will select with that draft pick. One of the top names discussed for this pick is former USC Trojans QB Caleb Williams. Now, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has made some strong comments on Williams after meeting him in person. Read below to find out more.
Matt Eberflus Pleased With What He Saw
Eberflus had the chance to see Caleb Williams in person. Before this, he had watched Williams’ film and already liked what he saw going into it. After Eberflus saw Williams in person, he noticed the positive impact that Williams had on the players around him.
“What I loved to see was the interaction with the other players. You can certainly see those players love and respect him.” -Matt Eberflus
Caleb Williams’ Pro Day
Williams had perhaps one of the most highly anticipated Pro Days in recent memory. This took place just about a week ago. It was one of the main opportunities for scouts and other NFL personnel to see what Williams was made of on the field.
He ended this Pro Day in spectacular fashion. This included a very impressive touchdown pass and even a punt to show off. It even left fans with strong reactions, as they seem to believe he is a lock for the top overall pick.
Chicago Bears’ Quarterback Situation
The Bears are almost certainly going to draft a quarterback. This is especially the case considering Justin Fields was recently traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a result, the starting job in Chicago is now available. Because of this, all eyes are on Caleb Williams to take that job next year despite the competition in this draft class.
Possible Franchise Quarterback
For the second year in a row, the Bears have a chance to draft a potential franchise quarterback with the top overall pick. However, Chicago passed on this opportunity last year. Instead, the Bears traded their pick to the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers chose Bryce Young with that pick. Given his rookie year, it is safe to say the Bears may have been wise to wait. Now, they have a chance to select one of the most highly anticipated quarterbacks in recent memory.
