The Chicago Bears pulled off a massive trade in early March, acquiring 4x Super Bowl Champion, 3x Pro Bowl, and 2x First-Team All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs. Thuney is coming off an impressive 2024 campaign, in which he lined up at left tackle in six of their last seven games. He would earn his third Pro Bowl and second First-Team All-Pro selection and was named team MVP.

The Chicago Bears’ newcomer enters the final year of his contract

Joe Thuney enters the final year of his 5-year, $80 million contract, which he signed during the 2021 offseason. He is scheduled to earn a $15.5 million base salary, $2 million guaranteed, along with a $16 million cap hit in 2025. Since Thuney is one of the league’s top interior offensive linemen, he has a few good years left in him, and he enters the final year of his contract, it would be logical for the Bears to secure him to a multi-year deal.
Chicago Bears eye extension for elite blocker

According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN, during Tuesday’s press conference, GM Ryan Poles was asked about the possibility of an extension for Joe Thuney this offseason. Poles went on to say that extending their 32-year-old blocker is one of their biggest priorities moving forward.
Ryan Poles on a potential Joe Thuney extension: “That’s definitely one of the priorities moving forward.”

Love having great addition Joe Thuney on our personnel. If no draft choice at tackle happens, maybe he could be playing our left tackle. and a guard found in draft or someone already on our team, Also a Jeantry trade would be real great but if it doesn’t happen, I would like either TE of the most popular choices again, either at our number 10 and wait to number 39 to find our new combo backfield player with Swift would be a powerful offence that would be awesome highlighted with Ben Johnson as new coach and new offensive line. Can’t wait for the season to begin
