Cam Ward Doubles Down on Influencing Titans to Make Intriguing Move

The Tennessee Titans are beginning a new chapter in their franchise history, with quarterback Cam Ward expected to be their starter under center right in his first season in the NFL.

Selected first overall by the Titans in the 2025 NFL draft, Ward, who played college football for the Miami Hurricanes, appeared to have already made his mark on the team – but off the field.

Ward reportedly had his hand on the Titans’ signing of undrafted wide receiver Xavier Restrepo, who was teammates with Ward at Miami.

“I was real excited when (the Titans) signed X,” Ward said (h/t Coral Smith of NFL.com). “He’s somebody who was deserving of it. He’s worked hard every day. He is one of the most underrated players that was in the draft this year. I think every time he steps on the field, he remembers everything, and he is going to continue to prove it.”

Added Ward:  “He was one of the best route runners in college football last year, he is first team All-conference, he is All-American, he never lost in man coverage. He is a back-to-back 1,000-yard receiver, so why wouldn’t you push for him?”

Will Cam Ward’s college teammate make the final Titans cut for 2025 NFL season?

It’s one thing to get signed by the Titans, and it’s another to make the final cut for Restrepo. But at least, he’s got the chance to prove himself that he belongs in the pros.

Perhaps it’s a big plus for Restrepo that he’ll work in the offseason with the Titans alongside a quarterback who clearly trusts him and is familiar with his abilities downfield.

In his final two years with the Hurricanes, Restrepo recorded 2,219 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns on 154 receptions.
