The Chicago Bears own the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This is the second consecutive season that Chicago wound up with that selection. Last season, the Bears traded that selection to the Carolina Panthers.
This season, they have it because Carolina finished with the worst record in the league. Chicago’s original pick is ninth overall this year. The Bears have a ton of options in what to do with this selection. They can keep the pick and take someone they like, or they can trade away the selection to a team and trade down.
There will be several teams that will contact Bears general manager Ryan Poles about that selection. Who are some of the teams that can make a trade with Chicago for the 2024 NFL Draft?
The Washington Commanders Could Be the Most Ideal Trade Partner for the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft
The most ideal trade partner for Chicago in the 2024 NFL Draft is the Washington Commanders. They currently have the second selection in the draft. If Chicago wants to move off of Justin Fields at quarterback, but if they don’t want Caleb Williams, Washington would make the most sense.
Williams is a Washington D.C. native and it would be a dream come true for him to play for his hometown team. The Commanders also have multiple second-round picks in this year’s draft and Chicago would get at least one of those selections, if not both of them.
Washington has talent on the offensive side of the football at the wide receiver position with Curtis Samuel. Jahan Dotson, and Terry McLaurin. This would be an ideal swap with both teams.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have the third overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. This trade wouldn’t also be bad for Chicago because if they decided to keep quarterback Justin Fields, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State would still be available for them at number three.
New England needs a quarterback because Mac Jones doesn’t appear to be the answer for them in the long run. They would have their choice of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels.
The Patriots did have Tom Brady a long time ago, but that’s in the past. New England is in a new era with Bill Belichick no longer the head coach and Jerod Mayo is.
New York Giants
The New York Giants own the sixth selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. It would be a jump for the Giants to move up from six to one. It is possible that they would have to give up both second-round picks this year and another first-round selection next season to the Chicago Bears.
New York needs a franchise quarterback because Daniel Jones is injury-prone and doesn’t appear to be the guy in the long haul. They over paid for him when they gave him a contract extension last offseason. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen enter there third season together and need to get the quarterback position right.
It is possible they stand pat and still get the quarterback they want whoever is left from Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye. New York would more likely trade up to the third spot with the New England Patriots rather than jumping to number one with the Chicago Bears.
