Washington Commanders star pass rusher Chase Young has just been traded to the San Francisco 49ers before the trade deadline. San Francisco has added to their already stout defense with yet another great pass rusher to compliment Nick Bosa and the defensive line. Chase Young
This move by the 49ers is massive as they already have one of the top defenses in the league. Young has established himself as one of the premier pass rushers in this league and completely changed the culture of the defense in Washington. Now with San Francisco, he will look to bring his talents to an already dominant defense, and teams should be terrified.
Young has amounted to 15 total tackles and five sacks this season. He has been arguably the Commanders’ best player on defense and maybe even the entire team. Since joining the league in 2020, he has gone for 90 total tackles and 14 sacks. He has had issues with injuries, but has come back and played at the same level.
Impact On 49ers And Commanders
The 49ers are currently sitting at a 5-3 record after starting the season 5-0. They are in second place in the NFC West only behind the Seattle Seahawks. Quarterbacks in the division should watch out as this defense is about to be even more dominant than it already was, and it could propel San Francisco to another winning streak.
As for Washington, they sit at 3-5 and are third in the NFC East division. It is clear that they are in the process of rebuilding after also trading away Montez Sweat to the Chicago Bears. This team is likely to start tanking for a good draft position.
