“Chaos is Needed” – #23 Colorado Buffaloes Road to Big 12 Championship Becomes Wild Ride

The Colorado Buffaloes still have a chance at sneaking into the Big 12 Conference Championship game, but quite a wild one to be fair.

Coach Deion Sanders recently spoke to the media this week, and notably stated that both Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders would play “one more game” in a bowl. However, Sanders failed to realize that there is still a chance, while it is a crazy one, of making the Big 12 Conference Championship game. Sanders stated he is “not the type of guy to sit down and wish everyone else loses” when it comes to the situation the Buffaloes are currently in.

While Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are solely focused on beating Oklahoma State and advancing to a solid bowl game, another game could potentially arise. There are currently two logical ways the Buffaloes can make the conference championship game that could realistically occur with a few teams having bad final games.

Currently, two out of the following three teams must lose this weekend with those teams being Arizona State, BYU, and Iowa State. However, if BYU loses and Texas Tech wins, then the Colorado Buffaloes would also be in the championship game with a win. Regardless of what happens, the core of either situation coming true involves a Colorado win, which the team has shifted its focus towards.

The Colorado Buffaloes, however, have moved past it and view the Kansas Jayhawks loss as a “squandered” opportunity within the conference.

Can the Colorado Buffaloes Enter the Big 12 Conference Championship Game?

While it seems rather far-fetched, the Colorado Buffaloes advancing to the Big 12 Conference Championship game is not completely out of this world.

Arizona State and Iowa State are two teams that could lose and allow for the Buffaloes to make their way into the conference championship game. Arizona State is set to face off against in-state rival Arizona, and historically speaking the Wildcats have won the last two meetings in a row. The Wildcats are in a far different position compared to the Sun Devils, but without a bowl game, the team will have nothing but hate fueling them throughout the game.

Iowa State, on the other hand, must play against Kansas State who could seriously do some damage against the struggling Cyclones. Iowa State has won the last two games in a row but lost to Texas Tech to begin the month of November in a very narrow game. The Cyclones have not played a team over 500 since the Red Raiders game and will take another big leap in competition against the Wildcats.

Finally, the BYU Cougars are another team that could potentially benefit the Colorado Buffaloes with a loss. Colorado can get into the championship game in two different ways with a BYU loss, which likely will not happen against Houston. The Cougars have displayed a much-improved defense the past few games but are also still at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the Big 12 Conference.
