The Carolina Panthers decided to select Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is expected to be their long-term franchise quarterback, but his rookie season was a rough one.

Throughout the course of the 2023 season, Young ended up completing 59.8 percent of his pass attempts for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also picked up 253 yards on the ground, but did not score a rushing touchdown.

Needless to say, those were not the numbers that the Panthers were hoping to see from their young quarterback. That led to some major offseason changes, including adding more weapons for Young and a new coaching staff.

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Bryce Young has received some improved projections that the Carolina Panthers would love to see become reality.

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young Receives Improved Projections For 2024

In a recent article from All Panthers, the Sports Illustrated Fan Nation site covering the Carolina Panthers, Young received some solid projections for his second NFL season.

“These calculations add up to a 17 game stat line of 346/565, 3592 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while chipping in for 247 yards on 38 rushing attempts. A marked improvement from Young’s rookie year, but still in the middle of the pack when it comes to the NFL as a whole.”

Should Young be able to reach those projections, it would be a huge step in the right direction for the young quarterback.

Among the moves that the Carolina Panthers made this offseason were the trade to acquire wide receiver Diontae Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers, signing three new offensive linemen, and drafting wide receiver Xavier Legette. They also selected former Texas Longhorns standout running back Jonathan Brooks in the second round of the draft.

Clearly, the Panthers understand that they need to surround Young with a better offense. They have made moves that should take their offense to the next level.

Now, it will all be on Young to develop and come into the season much more prepared than he was as a rookie. He has a lot of doubters due to his smaller stature for an NFL quarterback. However, he has a skill-set and arm talent that does project well for the future if he can put everything together.

It will be interesting to see what the Carolina Panthers end up getting from their young quarterback in 2024. Can he take a big leap forward and in the process take his team as a whole to the next level? We’ll just have to wait and see.
