Cam Newton never held back from calling out the Cleveland Browns’ owner about Deshaun Watson’s move.
Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton is known for speaking up, even when it means criticizing someone. Newton has had his fair share of criticism, but he never hesitates to speak his mind. The last person to be criticized was the Cleveland Browns’ owner.
The Browns acquired Deshaun Watson in 2022, and owner Jimmy Haslam mentioned that they missed out big on signing Waton. It was a huge deal for the Browns, as they gave up quite a bit, including a $230 million fully guaranteed contract.
Watson’s stint with the Browns has not been great due to injuries. Newton is upset with Haslam’s comment saying they “missed big” by acquiring Deshaun Watson.

In his recent episode on “4Th&1 with Cam Newton,” he talked about Kirk Cousins’s four-year $180 million deal, saying that Haslam should admit the decision was not right.
“If the Atlanta Falcons ain’t gonna admit just like this owner admitted, I don’t like it. Because I don’t like how they throwing on Deshaun Watson, bro. I really don’t. I’m ready for the Atlanta Falcons to admit that they effed up the whole Kirk Cousins situation,” Newton said.
“This ain’t the first time somebody has made or spent a lot of money on a quarterback, and it didn’t pan out. I just hate that it’s just Deshaun Watson. You can go down the line of quarterbacks in the past that has gotten the bag and didn’t pan out,” Newton continued.

Cam Newton Praises Former Linebacker Ray Lewis
It’s not always that we find Cam Newton criticizing someone. The former star never holds back from praising someone when needed. In his podcast, Newton praised former linebacker Ray Lewis. He talked about Lewis praising him for adjusting his study habits to combat Peyton Manning better.
“That’s chess… the master class of a Peyton Manning. The master class of a Tom Brady… what Ray Lewis started to realize [about Manning] was, ‘if we’re setting the defense, [we’re] giving him at least 25 seconds… to get the offense in the best play… so we [should] give the real defense around 10 seconds,” Cam Newton said.

Newton’s podcast has thousands of listeners, but some have criticized him for being too direct. Newton received a huge backlash from MLB fans after saying that baseball was becoming a dying sport. While some might agree with Cam Newton criticizing Haslam, others think it was unnecessary. As for Newton, he will continue to bring such issues to light on his podcast.
