The Buffalo Bills took the NFL world by storm on Wednesday, trading four-time Pro-Bowler Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans for a 2025 second-round selection. Buffalo also sent a sixth-round selection in the 2024 draft and a fifth-rounder in the 2025 draft to Houston. A former first-team All-Pro wideout, Diggs grew frustrated with the Bills over the past two seasons. The 30-year-old seemed to reach his wit’s end with the franchise this offseason, including taking subtle shots at quarterback Josh Allen through social media.
The Bills finally decided to part ways with their top-tier wide receiver, moving him across the conference to Houston. One former star wide receiver took to the Up & Adams Show on Thursday, believing Diggs forced his way out of Buffalo because of the team’s lack of success against the league’s best team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
DeSean Jackson: ‘(Stefon Diggs) Didn’t Think They Could Beat the Chiefs’
Former NFL standout and speedster DeSean Jackson joined the Up & Adams Show on Thursday, hosted by Kay Adams, and spoke on Wednesday’s shocking trade by the Buffalo Bills that sent Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Jackson, a three-time Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl champion believes Diggs pushed his way out of Buffalo because the team struggled with the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason.

“It’s deeper. It’s not just him (Diggs) being a football player or not being able to get the statistics. It’s something deeper… It was more about him wanting to win, I think. I don’t feel like he felt like they were going to beat the Chiefs,” said Jackson about Diggs forcing himself out of Buffalo.
The Bills have faced the Chiefs three times in the playoffs during Diggs’ four-year tenure with the club. They failed to win in any contest, including losing a heartbreaker 42-36 in overtime during the 2021-22 postseason. Again, they faced them this season but lost in a nailbiter, 27-24.
Jackson continued, “I think he would rather go with a young quarterback and a thriving new team than stay with the Bills, who get beat by the Chiefs every year.”
Diggs will now play for a Houston Texans squad led by Offensive Rookie of the Year winner C.J. Stroud. The Ohio State product threw for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six picks during 15 games as a rookie.
Stefon Diggs: Leaving Buffalo Bills After Four Seasons
Diggs will head to his third NFL franchise after being dealt to the Houston Texans earlier this week. The Maryland product joined the Bills in 2020, catching a league-best 127 passes for 1,535 yards. He scored eight touchdowns while making his first All-Pro team and Pro Bowl. Diggs posted at least 1,100 receiving yards in his four seasons with the AFC East club.
However, he posted 11.1 yards per reception last season, his lowest since 2018. He also failed to eclipse 70 receiving yards per game for the first time during his tenure with the Bills. Diggs still made the Pro Bowl, an accomplishment he has earned for the fourth straight season.
