The Washington Commanders are supposed to have one of the top defenses in the entire NFL. Well, the Buffalo Bills put that to the test on Sunday, and it resulted in Josh Allen and Co. proving to the rest of the league that they have an elite offense that can match whatever the defense has to offer. In fact, after securing a 37-3 blowout victory, the Bills did more than just match Washington in this one.
Josh Allen Heaps Praise on Buffalo Bills’ Offensive Line
Allen had another big game on Sunday, logging 20-of-32 completed passes for 218 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. It wasn’t exactly a mind-blowing performance from the Pro Bowl quarterback, but it was more than enough to lead his team to a big win.
After the game, Allen deflected the praise as he had nothing but good things to say about his offensive line and their performance:
“They played fantastic,” Allen said, via Patrick Warren of the team website. “Obviously that’s a fantastic front that we faced, all four of those guys can absolutely go. It was a good test for us and I’m glad things went obviously the way that they went but just utilizing our game plan, getting to move the pocket stuff, switching up where we’re throwing the football, trying to stay two dimensional, I thought Coach Dorsey did a good job of that tonight.”
Sean McDermott Reacts to Josh Allen’s Performance
Allen mixed it up in this game. He still went for a number of long bombs but at the same time, he found a lot of success with the shorter balls to his receivers.
Head coach Sean McDermott spoke out on Allen’s versatile display against the Commanders, noting that the young quarterback has done a great job in being able to expand his game:
“Josh understands that I want him to be him,” McDermott said. “So we’re not asking him to change who he is, it’s incorporating the discipline that you need to incorporate into the game. … I’ve been real proud of some of the things he’s done, the majority of what he’s done, in the last two games.”
For his part, Allen also did not forget to give credit to Buffalo’s defense, who did a stellar job in holding down the Commanders to just three points in the game:
“At the end of the day, still having that attack mindset and every time we touch the ball, we want to score,” Allen said. “But it makes it that much easier, you’re not trying to force things as much when you know you have a defense you can rely on and it’s okay to punt the ball away and they put us in some great situations today.”
The Bills are now 2-1 after this win, and it looks like they’ve already put their Week 1 loss against the New York Jets behind them. They return to action on Sunday with a mouth-watering matchup against a red-hot Miami Dolphins side in Week 4.
