The Buckeyes are coming off an 11-2 season ending their season with a win over Utah in the Rose Bowl. For Ryan Day and Ohio State fans last season was a disappointment. Ohio State lost to Oregon and Michigan and missed the big ten championship game. They had six players get drafted into the NFL, so Ohio State will need returning Buckeyes to produce at a higher level if they want to compete for a national championship. We will look at some Buckeyes that can have a breakout season in 2022.
3. Jack Sawyer – DE

Jack Sawyer is a sophomore defensive end with god gifted talents. Sawyer is 6’4 260 and from pictures it looks like he’s lived in the gym this offseason. Jack Sawyer is a fast, strong, athletic defensive end. Last season Jack Sawyer had 9 tackles 3 sacks and 1 forced fumble in a backup role. This season Sawyer will see a rise in snaps given he should be a starter. With the rise in snaps we should see a rise in production. Sawyer will take the next step as a defensive end and lead the Buckeyes in sacks this season.
2. Tyleik Williams – DT

Tyleik Williams is a sophomore defensive tackle. Williams was a bright spot on this defense last season. He was a freshman who surprised many. Tyeik Williams is 6’3 315, he is quick for his size. Last season Williams played great in a limited role. Williams had 10 tackles, 5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. Williams will see an expanded role this season which should boost his production. JT Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer will be extremely tough to stop off the edges which will lead to double teams, Williams should have a lot of one on one opportunities on the inside this season.
1. Marvin Harrison Jr. – Wr

Marvin Harrison Jr. is a sophomore Wide Receiver. Harrison is a tall, physical receiver who will thrive in this Buckeye offense. We didn’t get to see much of him last season due to a stacked Wr room. When he saw the field last season he didn’t disappoint. In the Rose Bowl game against Utah he got the start. In that game he had 6 catches for 71 yards and 3 touchdowns. Harrison is a 6’3 205 receiver who is set to be a good red zone target for CJ Stroud. With the departure of Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave Marvin Harrison Jr. will be a starting wide receiver and he will see a lot of targets. Harrison is expected to have a big role in an offense led by heisman trophy front runner CJ Stroud.
