The Browns’ rookies and quarterbacks reported to training camp on Friday, but David Bell will have to wait a little bit before he can play.
On Friday, the Browns placed David Bell on the active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list with a foot injury.

The injury apparently isn’t too serious, though. Bell is reported to make a return in a couple of weeks according to cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
Hopefully this injury doesn’t create a big setback for Bell, who fans are excited to see perform, and for good reason. Bell was selected in the third round out of Purdue, and he has good potential.
In his three years at Purdue, Bell amassed 232 receptions, 2,946 yards, and 21 receiving touchdowns. He also had six rushing touchdowns.
Bell was also a First-Team All-American in 2021, and also was awarded First-Team Honors in 2020.
The Browns believe that Bell can produce for the Browns as a rookie, with wide receiver coach Chad O’Shea saying this back in May:
“He’s an exceptional route-runner that has the ability to separate versus tight coverage and we believe that at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to your ability to separate versus man coverage in this league on the money downs — on third down and in your situational football in the red zone. We identified him as being able to do that, and he did it at a level we thought was really impressive.”
And even in the Building the Browns series, coach Kevin Stefanski had nothing but good things to say about Bell.
“You were the first guy I watched, and right away I was like ‘we need to get this guy.’ You can ask our GM, I was like, ‘This day needs to end with David Bell on our team.’”
Bell will be activated off the PUP list once he is able to pass a physical.
