The Browns have had an offseason of mixed emotions. So, we are going to look into the details of some of the things that have happened so far.

The Good: Denzel Ward Signs His Extension

The Browns signed Denzel Ward to a five-year, $100.5 million with $71.25 million guaranteed.

The number four pick out of Ohio State has been a great addition for the Browns. In his four years with Cleveland, Ward has earned himself two Pro Bowl games, while also tacking on 10 interceptions, three touchdowns, 190 yards, two forced fumbles, and 186 tackles.

This extension definitely gives Cleveland some security for several years in the cornerback position.

The Bad: Still No Help at Defensive Tackle

One of the biggest needs for the Browns this offseason has been defensive tackle. And yet, it has not been addressed.

They did get some help at defensive tackle by selecting Perrion Winfrey in the NFL Draft, but they still need some help. One of the names that people think would be a good fit is Ndamukong Suh.

But the only problem with that is there were reports that the Browns may have stopped chasing Suh.

Source: #Bucs and #Raiders still in on DT Ndamukong Suh. Talks are ongoing with Las Vegas, while Tampa Bay will let all the options die down first. #Browns have backed off.

It seems like the Browns may not add a defensive tackle, which is not good. That’s the main position they needed to work on and they may not even add anyone.

    The Ugly: The Quarterback Situation

The Browns face a lot of questions at quarterback this season

You could probably guess this was going to be here. This is easily the worst part of the Browns’ offseason so far.

Back in March, the Browns signed Deshaun Watson to a five-year, $230 million contract. Even though Deshaun Watson is a great quarterback, he does have 24 sexual assault and misconduct allegations on him. The NFL has looked into this for a while, and they are contemplating whether they will suspend him or not.

And we obviously can’t forget about Baker Mayfield. Mayfield Cleveland to the playoffs in 2020 and even got them a playoff win, but after a down year in 2021, the Browns were ready to move on. That led them to signing Watson and taking a big risk.

Now, Mayfield is ready for a trade and the Browns are having a difficult time getting a deal done.
