‘Cryin’ Brian Kelly’: Florida Football Fans Bash Opposing Coach Following Epic 27-16 Win Against LSU

Florida football is having a rough 2024 season. Entering the year with aspirations to compete in the SEC, Florida is 4-5 through mid-November, marking their fifth straight season failing to hit double-digit victories. However, on Saturday, the Florida Gators kept their bowl eligibility hopes alive, pulling off a 27-16 home win against the 22nd-ranked LSU Tigers. Heading into the SEC tilt as a short 2.5-point favorite, Florida used an elite pass rush to beat LSU and head coach Brian Kelly.

Following the win, Florida football fans flooded social media, celebrating their victory as they moved to 5-5 on the season. Meanwhile, others pointed their energy directly towards Kelly, putting him on blast for suffering another brutal loss in SEC play.

This is by far the most inexcusable loss of the Brian Kelly era.

With the LSU Tigers needing to win out to have any hope of making the College Football Playoff, the SEC club lost to the struggling Florida football team on Saturday. Entering the weekend, Florida had lost three of their last four, including falling to the Texas Longhorns 49-17 in their previous contest. Yet, despite the loss of starting quarterback Graham Mertz earlier this season and Florida opting to start a true freshman, albeit a five-star, the Gators ran for 113 yards on just 14 carries. More notably, DJ Lagway threw for 226 yards and one touchdown while not getting sacked.

Conversely, Florida sacked LSU signal-caller Garrett Nussmeier seven times, with the Tigers going 2-of-4 on fourth down. In the final moments of regulation, LSU head coach Brian Kelly opted to go for it on fourth down instead of attempting a long field goal in a two-score game. Following the Florida football victory, the team’s social media and fans took a victory lap while keeping Kelly in their crosshairs.
