‘Brainless Billy Napier’: Florida Football Head Coach Under Fire After Suffering Brutal Amid Job Stability Questions – Week 11

Florida football will not move on from head coach Billy Napier following the conclusion of the 2024 season. Earlier this week, Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin announced that Napier “will continue as head football coach of the Florida Gators.” Owning a 15-18 record with the Gators since taking the lead man spot in 2022, Napier has long been the subject of criticism from fans questioning his job security. Nevertheless, the Florida faithful are unhappy with the team’s performance this weekend.

On Saturday, the Gators visited the top-ranked Texas Longhorns, falling 49-17 as 24.5-point favorites. The Napier-led squad allowed a ludicrous 562 yards, while the offense did not put points on the board until midway through the third quarter. Fans did not hold back when questioning Napier’s tenure with the club.

According to PFF College:

Texas QB Quinn Ewers vs Florida:

333 YDS

5 TDS

0 INTS

In a road loss against the Texas Longhorns, the Florida football program allowed 333 yards and five touchdowns to opposing quarterback Quinn Ewers. In the 49-17 rout, Texas backup quarterback Arch Manning earned playing time, going 3-of-6 for 19 yards. The rushing duo of Jaydon Blue and Jerrick Gibson combined for 160 yards and two touchdowns on just 21 carries. Conversely, Florida quarterback Aidan Warner, who started the season deep on the depth chart, went 12-of-25 for 132 yards and two interceptions. However, the running back room was a bright spot, with Jadan Baugh and Ja’Kobi Jackson rushing 38 times for 204 yards and two touchdowns.

The loss moves Florida to 4-5 on the season, and the former SEC power must win two of their final games to earn bowl eligibility. They will host the top-ranked LSU Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels in the next two weeks before facing their rival Florida State on the road to end the season. Following athletic director Scott Stricklin giving head coach Billy Napier a vote of confidence earlier this week, Florida fans are unhappy with the team’s brutal loss this weekend:
