Kenneth Walker III is out for Sunday’s NFC West matchup with the Arizona Cardinals because of an ankle and calf injury, which will cost the Seattle Seahawks their leading rusher in the contest. Walker was included early as questionable but was officially ruled out Saturday after sitting out practice late in the week.

Zach Charbonnet To Take Over With Kenneth Walker Out
Running back Zach Charbonnet will likely see more work for the Seahawks as the lead back, after Walker’s absence. A second-round pick from UCLA, Charbonnet has flashed brilliance this season, including how he played in place of Walker when he was dealing with his oblique injury. Charbonnet will pick up the slack as Seattle’s offense takes on a must-win divisional game with Walker sidelined.
To strengthen their backfield, the Seahawks brought up running back George Holani from the practice squad. Undrafted rookie Holani, from Boise State, will pair with Kenny McIntosh who will provide additional support at running back and special teams.
Charbonnet has a starting role and an opportunity to show what he can do and to prove he is part of Seattle’s future. Charbonnet’s abilities allow him to play with both a physical running style and pass-catching. It gives him the chance to play well against the Cardinals defense, which has struggled all year.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks(7-5) sit one game ahead of the Cardinals in this close NFC West race. A win over Arizona (6-6) would help strengthen their standings overall and within the division. Every win is important in the highly competitive NFC.
Rather, the question going forward for Seattle will be how to manage Walker’s health and workload for the rest of the season. Charbonnet will help keep the Seahawks offense moving forward while all eyes will be on Walker’s chance to return for next week’s game against the Green Bay Packers, sources say. However, they may limit his workload as they try to make a run for the playoffs.
