A familiar face is returning to Notre Dame.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Notre Dame is hiring LSU Offensive Coordinator Mike Denbrock to the same position.
Denbrock is set to return to South Bend following a two-year stint with the Tigers after he left the Fighting Irish to join Brian Kelly in Baton Rouge. Denbrock, as well as LSU Quarterbacks Coach, Joe Sloan played integral parts in leading the Tigers to the number one ranked offense in the nation in 2023, which was capped off by Jayden Daniels winning the 2023 Heisman Trophy. Denbrock and co. helped the Bayou Bengals accumulate 547.8 yards per game to go with 46.4 points per contest this season.
Notre Dame’s now-former Offensive Coordinator, Gerad Parker left the Fighting Irish this off-season to become Troy’s new Head Coach.
Mike Denbrock returns to the Fighting Irish after being an assistant with the school from 2002-2004 and again from 2010 through 2016. Notre Dame’s Head Coach, Marcus Freeman previously worked with Denbrock at Cincinnati from 2017 through 2020, where the pair were Offensive (Denbrock) and Defensive (Freeman) Coordinators with the Bearcats.
