The Cleveland Browns are in the part of their offseason when players are on vacation and doing whatever they want before training camp opens at the end of July, and one player found himself in a lot of trouble on Wednesday night.
Cleveland Browns Player Gets Arrested For DUI
A report from TMZ came out on Thursday that defensive lineman Lonnie Phelps was arrested on Wednesday night after cops say he drunkenly crashed an SUV into a restaurant and then refused to cooperate with a police investigation afterward.
Phelps was in Key West, Florida, and according to their police department, they were dispatched to a scene where a black Hyundai had crashed into the side of a restaurant.
Phelps was cited for DUI and property damage and is due in court for a hearing next month.
The former Kansas Star signed with the Browns last season after going undrafted but never saw any action with the team last year. Cleveland signed him to a futures contract this offseason, and he was supposed to compete for a roster spot in training camp next month.
