The Carolina Panthers are not done cleaning house. Earlier this morning, they made the decision to fire head coach Frank Reich. Now, there are more coaches getting fired.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Carolina Panthers are firing two more coaches. They are relieving the assistant/RB coach Duce Staley along with QB coach Josh McCown. Both just came to the Panthers in 2023 and will not finish out the regular season.
To add insult to injury, Ian Rapoport added that this decision was made by interim head coach Chris Tabor and offensive assistant Jim Caldwell. If this is true, it is safe to say that the new regime is wasting no time. Let’s see how we got here.
Carolina Panthers Offense
There has been a lot of talk about the development of QB Bryce Young. One big reason for this is that the Panthers traded up to draft him. They also passed on QB C.J. Stroud in favor of Young.
So, how has Young done this season? The answer is not great. Young has nine touchdown passes and eight interceptions this season. He also has 1,877 passing yards and a 61.7 completion percentage.
Their rushing attack has not been much better this season. Carolina averages just 92.6 rushing yards per game. That is 29th in the NFL.
What Now?
We will have to see where the Panthers go from here. Right now, they have the worst record in the NFL. Unfortunately, they cannot benefit from it immediately. That is because they traded their 2024 first-round draft pick to move up to the top spot in this past NFL Draft. As a result, it could be a long road for the Carolina Panthers.
