Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley had some ups and downs in his rookie season. In his first year as a head coach, Staley has shown unconventional methods to say the least. There were a number of games you could point to where he made some head scratching decisions. However, there were some games where his aggressive approach paid off in a victory. In the end, even Coach Staley would admit he may have been too aggressive in certain moments of 2021
In an interview with Peter King of NBC Sports, Staley addresses Kings questions about the decision making on the 4th & 1 at their own 18-yard line Week 18 vs the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite the criticism he’s received, Staley plans to keep the same mindset moving forward. See the video below per chagers.content via Instagram.

The Chargers have made key acquisitions to both sides of the ball during the offseason. They signed TE Gerald Everett and WR Deandre Carter to help the passing game. Los Angeles also used a first round pick on Zion Johnson help bolster the O-Line. Staley’s defense was ranked 30th against the run and he made sure to address that in free agency. Brandon Staley has reunited with players he used to coach such as LB Khalil Mack, DT Sebastian Joseph-Day, and CB Bryce Callahan. Defense is Staley’s strong suit as he was the Rams Defensive Coordinator when they had the number one defense in 2020. With players that understand his scheme and follow his mindset, Staley is motivated to silence the critics in 2022.
