The Miami Dolphins saw a few injuries during their Week 17 game against the Baltimore Ravens yesterday but outside linebacker Bradley Chubb went down with a knee injury. It was initially believed to be a torn ACL and after the MRI today, it has officially be declared that Chubb did suffer a torn ACL.

This injury is massive for the Miami Dolphins for a multitude of reasons but the first one being that this defense needs to step up in the postseason. Losing one of the top players on that side of the blow is an obvious massive loss for the Dolphins. Bradley Chubb has had a strong 2023 season as he finishes with 74 total tackles (45 solo, 29 assisted) with 11.0 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a pair of pass deflections.

This makes the Dolphins chances a lot tougher as they have not clinched the AFC East yet and have a matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 18. They have clinched a playoff spot so that is not on the line but the difference between hosting a playoff game as the two-seed in the AFC and being on the road as a wild card team is significant.

How does this Bradley Chubb injury affect the Miami Dolphins’ chances to win the Super Bowl?

The biggest question of this Miami Dolphins team was the defensive side of the football as their offense has been arguably the best in the NFL. Their defense has been struggling throughout the year though as they are tied for 21st with 23.1 points per game allowed.

This injury also affects the pass-rush for the Dolphins as Chubb has been their leader in sacks and tied for the team lead with 11 tackles for loss. With the injuries piling up and the inability to win against playoff-caliber teams, the Dolphins are in a weird position.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Dolphins are seventh in terms of odds to win the Super Bowl right now at +1300. Below is the list of the top 10 odds.

    • San Francisco 49ers (+220)
    • Baltimore Ravens (+300)
    • Buffalo Bills (+800)
    • Dallas Cowboys (+850)
    • Kansas City Chiefs (+750)
    • Philadelphia Eagles (+1100)
    • Miami Dolphins (+1300)
    • Detroit Lions (+2000)
    • Jacksonville Jaguars (+3500)
    • Cleveland Browns (+3500)

A lot of pressure will be put in the Week 18 game to see how they do but no Bradley Chubb in the postseason is a major blow to a team with the Lombardi Trophy on their mind.
