College football fans strongly reacted to the breaking report Bobby Petrino was headed back to coach at Arkansas. But he won’t be the head coach this time. Petrino, who was the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M this season, accepted a role as the Razorbacks offensive coordinator.
Petrino will now coach the offensive of a program with a head coach on the hot seat for the second year in a row. Many fans wanted Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman fired after finishing with a 4-8 record this season.
College football fans react to Petrino’s hire Tuesday
Petrino’s hire was scrutinized by fans on social media Tuesday afternoon. Petrino’s stint as a head coach was marred by a scandal that included an affair with a staffer and a motorcycle accident. Petrino was fired after the incident became public.
Fans mocked the idea Arkansas was “vetting” Petrino. A cursory Google search of Petrino would tell any employer what they needed to know about Petrino and Arkansas. Here are the best takes of fans reacting to Petrino returning to Arkansas.
