North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick has seen his name in more headlines over the last couple of weeks than he has in well over a year. Unfortunately, they have not been positive news stories. Even more unfortunate, they have had nothing to do with what he has accomplished on the field. Instead, they have had everything to do with his current girlfriend.
As fans are well-aware, the 73-year-old Belichick is currently dating Jordon Hudson, a 24-year-old former college cheerleader and beauty pageant contestant.
And while age gap relationships are not all that uncommon, the issue many have with Belichick’s is the negative influence Hudson has had on his public image.
Jordon Hudson Is Bill Belichick’s New Top Advisor

During a recent interview that was aired by CBS, Hudson can be overheard telling Belichick/the interviewer that they will not be “talking about that” when the Tar Heels head coach was asked about how met his girlfriend.
According to CBS, it was just one instance out of many in which the self-proclaimed head of “Belichick Media” inserted herself into the interview. So frustrating was the experience with her that the network cancelled the coach’s second interview, which was part of a series meant to publicize his upcoming book.
Additionally, it was recently reported that HBO cancelled North Carolina’s appearance on a college version of “Hard Knocks” because they did not want to work with Hudson, who insisted on being an integral part of the production.
Over the last several days, especially, many have wondered why Belichick continues to put up with the negative publicity that Hudson has brought him. One analyst, though, believes the six-time Super Bowl winner prefers the controversy.
Analyst Claims Bill Belichick Welcomes the Controversy Jordon Hudson Brings

In a recent report published by ESPN, Dan Wetzel argues that the reason the former New England Patriots head coach has not parted ways with Hudson or decreased her role in his day-to-day operations is because he thrives on controversy around him:
“If you allow his history — a lesson from his life in football, if you will — to inform, then you would know that there has rarely, if ever, been any personal feud, situation, tabloid headline or bit of accusational strife that has derailed the man’s single-minded focus on winning.
“Belichick doesn’t just thrive in the briar patch of controversy — he seems to prefer it. The more external noise, the better.
“A former player standing trial for murder? Win the Super Bowl.
“Accused of illegally videotaping opponents? Post a 16-0 season.
“A star quarterback alleged to have cheated to win the AFC Championship Game by deflating footballs? Name-drop ‘My Cousin Vinny’ in a news conference, then win the Super Bowl.
“Have the team get fined and stripped of a first-round draft pick and the quarterback suspended for the start of the season? Win another Super Bowl.
“Maybe this isn’t what he was expecting from the book release, but let’s be clear, he was expecting to create a major media stir.”
The notion that Belichick expected, and perhaps even welcomed, the stir his interview caused is not to surprising given the context Wetzel gives.
The only question, though, is whether or not North Carolina will put up with it. As long as they are making money, one can be sure that they will.
