North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick is 73 years old, but is embarking on a brand new chapter in his career. After winning six Super Bowl titles as the head coach of the New England Patriots, Belichick found that no NFL teams had any interest in hiring him to the same role when he and the franchise parted ways. This opportunity with the Tar Heels was supposed to add to his already impressive resume and, perhaps, open another door for him in the NFL.
But, all of a sudden, his position at North Carolina is being called into question, and it has nothing to do with his skills as a coach or recruiter.
It is because of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
Bill Belichick Was Embarrassed by Jordon Hudson During a Recent Interview
Over the weekend, Coach Belichick was interviewed by CBS so that he could promote his new book. Unfortunately, the interview proved to be a difficult one due to the constant interruptions and poor behavior from Hudson.
While the network did not air all of these incidents, they did show one in which Belichick was asked how he and Hudson met. “We’re not talking about this,” Hudson can be heard saying off camera.
Belichick turned red in the face after her comment, obviously embarrassed by her behavior, not only in that moment, but throughout the interview.
And, as it turns out, the coaching legend may be on the market again soon because of this, and many other instances involving his girlfriend.
North Carolina Is Concerned About Bill Belichick and His Girlfriend’s Role
According to TMZ, the athletic department at North Carolina is very uncomfortable with how involved Hudson is in Belichick’s day-to-day work:
“The whole ordeal also isn’t sitting well with Bill’s employers — we’re told folks at UNC are now concerned about Hudson’s influence on Belichick’s tenure as the head football coach in Chapel Hill … especially with her, essentially, taking on a role as his manager.
“As a source put it, there’s a ‘growing sense this could become a problem.'”
It would seem North Carolina has every right to be concerned.
