Bengals Executive in High Demand for Multiple General Manager Positions Heading into Critical 2024

Cincinnati will need to build up its scouting department if they want to compete with the big names in the NFL.

The Cincinnati Bengals may have had a down year but there is no argument that the team has made huge strides over the past five years.  While some might argue that elite quarterback Joe Burrow is the number one contributor, the front office of Cincinnati has certainly made some excellent moves.  While the success of a group can be something to celebrate, it typically means exodus and promotion for the personnel in the world of professional sports.

A lot of the success of Cincinnati can be attributed to excellent offseasons and terrific Drafts during the 2019 and 2020 NFL seasons.  Cincinnati had suffered from an aging roster without much talent and one of the absolute worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen but they managed to turn it around in a matter of two years and take the team to the Super Bowl in 2021.

Following what has appeared to be another solid offseason, Cincinnati senior personnel executive Trey Brown has garnered interest from both the New England Patriots and the Las Vegas Raiders as a General Manager.  Brown has been instrumental to the personnel decisions in Cincinnati since he was hired by the team in 2021.

It was reported by NFL Insider Ian Rappaport that Brown had been included on a short list for the New England Patriots.  Brown would be a solid choice for the team as he was an executive with the Patriots from 2010 to 2012 and is familiar with the way the team has traditional done business.

As the #Patriots plot out a new direction and set out to hire a GM, a few names to consider with ties to New England: Former #Raiders GM Dave Ziegler, former #Titans GM Jon Robinson, #Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi, #49ers assistant GM Adam Peters, #Bengals exec Trey Brown.

    Bengals
D.J. Reader has become a force in the middle for Cincinnati over the past few seasons.

Brown played a key role in bringing in players like D.J. Reader and Chidobe Awuzie who sparked the rebuild and pushed Cincinnati to be a playoff contender.  Cincinnati is already known for having the smallest scouting department in all of football with a full personnel staff of eight people.  Losing one of their most valued scouts would hit a major blow against Cincinnati as they try to maintain an elite roster among salary cap issues.
