Unlike years past, the Baltimore Ravens will be using a new design for their players’ helmets during the upcoming 2024 NFL season. The thing is, fans have aired mixed reactions to the decision on social media recently.
The Ravens faced a tumultuous start to the season, as a rash of injuries to key players like JK Dobbins, Marlon Humphrey, and Mark Andrews threatened to derail their campaign. However, the team refused to be deterred, rallying behind the dynamic play of MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson to overcome the adversity.
Posting a remarkable 13-4 record, the Ravens set an NFL record with 10 wins over teams that finished the year with winning marks, including five victories against division leaders. Their dominant defense, which led the league in sacks, points allowed, and takeaways, underpinned the team’s surge to the AFC North title and the conference’s top playoff seed.
Despite falling short in the AFC Championship game, the Ravens’ thrilling postseason run, which included the franchise’s first home playoff game since 2012 and first-ever AFC title tilt hosted in Baltimore, underscored the team’s ascension to the upper echelon of the NFL. With Jackson’s continued excellence and an injured core poised to return, the Ravens have positioned themselves as a formidable contender in the AFC for years to come.
Baltimore Ravens’ New Helmet Designs For 2024 NFL Season Draws Mixed Reactions From Fans
Before the new season, the Ravens showed their new helmet design for the upcoming campaign. In an article for Bleacher Report, Joseph Zucker went into detail about this decision.
“The Baltimore Ravens’ helmets have remained pretty consistent across their existence in the NFL. That changed Tuesday as the team unveiled a new purple alternate helmet.
The headgear features gold striping and gold facemasks along with Baltimore’s secondary logo emblazoned on the side.
The league has steadily relaxed its uniform rules in recent years. Alternate helmets returned to the rotation starting with the 2022 season, and the league opened the door for a third helmet design in April.
Based on how they look, fans may not think the Ravens’ “Purple Rising” helmets were the results of a long, carefully thought-out process. While a different color scheme from Baltimore’s traditional black helmets, they aren’t a far departure overall,” Zucker wrote.
Baltimore fans took to social media to express their thoughts on the design. Shown below are some reactions on X.

“Making an alternate helmet highlighting your worst logo is… a choice,” JaguarGator9 said.
“HOLY SHII, THESE ARE SO BEAUTIFUL 😭🔥🔥🔥,” Kyrie Center tweeted.
“Oh lawdy this needed a content warning,” Nic Mason posted.
“I like them but idk how I feel about that gold face mask. White would be cleaner,” Nate Roppelt reacted.
The Ravens are expected to have a re-energized roster centered around Lamar Jackson, especially with wide receiver Rashod Bateman entering the campaign healthy. They are expected to make a run for the Super Bowl this year.
It remains to be seen whether Baltimore will keep this design or go over at it again. In any case, the team will let their game do the talking on the field soon.
