Derrick Henry is going to be a free agent soon, and a lot of NFL teams are going to woo him to join their team, including the Baltimore Ravens, who are the betting favorite to sign the two-time NFL rushing yards leader.
According to NBC Sports Bet, the Baltimore Ravens are listed at +200 odds to get Henry, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles at +400, the Dallas Cowboys at +550, the Houston Texans at +750, and the Los Angeles Chargers at +1000.
While the Baltimore Ravens have Lamar Jackson spearheading their offense, adding someone like Derrick Henry could go a long way since it would take some of the load off the two-time NFL MVP.
Derrick Henry is coming off yet another productive campaign. In his last season with the Tennessee Titans in 2023, the Alabama product recorded 1,167 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 280 rushing attempts.
Key departures could open up an opportunity for the Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have to sort out their running back room if they are to ultimately land Derrick Henry. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards are likely gone this offseason, but the team still has Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell in their ranks.
According to Spotrac, Derrick Henry has a predicted market value of around $10.3 million for a one-year deal. And although he just turned 30 last month, which is “old” by NFL running back standards, that is a huge bargain since Henry still has a lot left in his tank.
Analysts like the idea of Derrick Henry going to the Baltimore Ravens
Former Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Robert Griffin III said that it makes perfect sense for Baltimore to acquire Derrick Henry, writing on his X (formerly known as Twitter) that he “plays like a Raven.”
“Derrick Henry plays with physicality, is relentless in his preparation, and has a clear passion to get over the hump to play for a championship. There is only one place for him to go. Derrick Henry should be a Baltimore Raven because he already plays like a Raven.”
ESPN’s Matt Bowen also sees the Baltimore Ravens as the perfect fit for Derrick Henry.
“Even if his overall play speed is starting to decline, he’s a downhill hammer with excellent vision, and we know he can still find the end zone. Henry had 12 rushing scores last season, and he’d upgrade the Ravens’ run game when paired with Lamar Jackson.”
