Former Auburn Tigers quarterback Cam Newton was one of the most polarizing football players ever. He won a Heisman Trophy with Auburn during the 2010 season and helped them win a National Title against the Oregon Ducks the same season.
He was the number one pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft. Newton also won an MVP and went to a Super Bowl with Carolina, but lost to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl L under head coach Ron Rivera. Cam Newton is a big celebrity among the Auburn Tigers.

It seems like a lot of people are not fans of Newton and Stephen A. Smith teaming up together to do a show. It will be interesting to see what happens when they talk about college football events for the remainder of the 2024 college football season because Newton used to play for the Tigers.
ESPN Speaks Out
David Roberts, Executive VP at ESPN said about Newton:
“Cam Newton’s addition to First Take brings an electrifying presence, enhancing our roster of top-tier personalities. His dynamic charisma, combined with the high-profile debates alongside Stephen A. Smith, will create compelling, must-watch television for fans.”
Cam Newton also added:
“I’ve always brought passion and energy into everything I do, and that won’t change at ESPN. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to share my perspective and go toe-to-toe with the best in the business. Fans can expect the same intensity I brought to the field, along with real talk, bold takes, and good fun.”
It will be interesting to see how the Newton and Stephen A. Smith relationship works at ESPN. There has been some criticism of ESPN in the past with their TV shows and this could be a bunch of drama with the two of them together also.
