There’s been a recent feeling of unease on The Plains about their recruitment of Lausanne Collegiate’s Brock Glenn. The four-star quarterback of the 2023 recruiting class has been courted by Auburn for some time. And until recently the Tigers were considered frontrunners for his commitment. But late plays by a handful of programs – most notably LSU – saw the young passer consider his options…
Glenn planned to make his announcement ahead of the Elite 11 finals in June, but an unexpected offer from Brian Kelly forced the Memphis product to delay his commitment. Unable to take an official visit to Baton Rouge, Glenn was forced to contemplate life in the Bayou from afar. But, as it stands, it’s a school from the Florida Panhandle that appears to have turned his head.
Brock Glenn: Auburn Ties
Auburn has thrown the kitchen sink at Glenn, their undoubted preferred QB in the 2023 class. Head coach Bryan Harsin and offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau have done a phenomenal job creating a relationship with Glenn and his family, something that had not gone unnoticed by the Tennessee gunslinger. Despite interest from Ohio State, Glenn had been predicted to favor Auburn, receiving a handful of crystal balls from 24/7 Sports. Glenn’s family are predominantly Tiger fans – his grandfather was an Auburn alum. And the quarterback’s legal name is actually ‘Auburn Brock Glenn’. It all painted a promising picture for AU to get their man.
The longer it took for Glenn to commit, the bigger the fear he was looking elsewhere. Today, Mississippi State Insider Paul Jones and Auburn Insiders Jeffrey Lee & Christian Clemente have all predicted Glenn will commit to Florida State. Whilst always in the race for the quarterback, The Seminoles have found some late momentum. And they seem to have convinced Glenn to head to Tallahassee:

If the feeling amongst the experts is true, this is the second time in a week that FSU have pipped The Tigers for a prospect. On 5th July, Highland Home edge rusher Keldric Faulk also spurned Auburn’s advances and opted for the garnet and gold. It’s a testament to the great work Mike Norvell and his team are doing on the recruiting trail. But it also looks to be a disappointing end to Harsin and Kiesau’s pursuit of the QB.
All To Play For

If, as expected, Brock Glenn heads elsewhere, there are still plenty of positives to take away from this recruiting cycle so far. Whilst the class might not be as big as some hoped at this stage, all four commits to date are four-star prospects. Not only that, but Harsin and his team have been extremely competitive with other schools when battling for their preferred targets. And that’s in spite of undoubted negative recruitment tactics from their opposite numbers.
That tells us that the message the coaching staff are selling to recruits is being well received. Despite the noise from outside, Auburn remains an attractive home for talent. The Tigers are under no pressure to find their future quarterback in this cycle. And with more stability in a year’s time things should be a lot different. This year’s recruiting was always going to be a hard slog, but signing day is a long way off. With a promising start to the season, don’t be surprised to see the momentum change.
