The Atlanta Falcons are set to run it back with offensive lineman Ryan Neuzil after he and the NFC South division franchise agreed on an extension deal, as reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
#Falcons are extending guard Ryan Neuzil on a one-year deal, per source. Neuzil was an exclusive rights free agent.
Atlanta Falcons Make An Under-The-Radar Move
Neuzil entered the pros in 2021 when he signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent. Before declaring for that year’s NFL Draft, Neuzil played college football with Appalachian State from 2016 to 2020. So far in his NFL career, the 26-year-old Neuzil (turning 27 in July) has appeared in 26 games, all with the Atlanta Falcons.
The move done by the Atlanta Falcons on the Neuzil may or may not signify a looming major move (i.e. trading for Justin Fields), but at the very least, they are keeping one of their pieces on the offensive line. In 2023, Neuzil played in 17 games and started in four of those contests. He earned a 55.3 overall grade that season from Pro Football Focus, with a 59.1 rating for his pass blocking and a 56.2 for his run blocking.
Mostly used in 2023 as part of the Falcons special teams, Neuzil can further impress Atlanta this offseason with the hopes of becoming a regular starter.
Details of Neuzil have yet to be announced, though, the Falcons only needed to extend an offer to him in order to prevent him from becoming a free agent.
