The Atlanta Falcons will need to fix some things on the defensive side of the ball this offseason. Atlanta finished last season with an 8-9 record.

The Falcons could potentially make a trade for Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander. The Packers are shopping him this offseason. There are a lot of NFL teams who need cornerback help.
CBS Sports Writer Cody Benjamin Has the Atlanta Falcons Potentially Trading For Green Bay Packers Jaire Alexander This Offseason

When the Packers mentioned that they could be willing to trade Alexander this offseason, many people are wondering where he could be traded to this offseason. CBS sports writer Cody Benjamin listed five potential destinations for Jaire Alexander. Benjamin has the Atlanta Falcons as the number one destination for the Packers star cornerback. Cody Benjamin said:
“Just last offseason the Falcons committed top-tier money to No. 1 corner A.J. Terrell. But Atlanta could really use a proper running mate at the position. Their cap space is tight going into free agency, but Alexander might have an incentive to restructure his deal to make it work. Not only was he born and raised on the East Coast, but the Falcons also employ Jerry Gray as assistant head coach; Gray was the Packers’ defensive backs coach during some of Alexander’s best years, from 2020-2022.”
It remains to be seen if the Atlanta Falcons would make a deal for Alexander. The defensive side of the ball has to be the top priority for the Falcons this offseason. Trading for Jaire Alexander would make sense from a personnel standpoint, but they may not be able to afford him. Alexander missed several games last season because of injury and recorded 16 tackles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, one touchdown, and seven pass deflections.
Kyle Pitts On a Contract Year

One of the things that might cause the Falcons to not make a trade for Alexander is that they need enough money to give Kyle Pitts a contract extension. However, Pitts might be traded away to another team this offseason.
That should be an alarm. If they can’t afford Pitts, why would they be able to afford Jaire Alexander? If the Atlanta Falcons do trade for the star cornerback, they are going to have to make some other financial moves to make it work.
