The Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of trying to compete for the NFC South and a potential playoff spot. Head coach Arthur Smith has been one of the coaches on the hot seat and it seems as if the ownership group is leaning towards getting rid of him after their 9-7 loss against the Carolina Panthers last week.
I’m told sentiments of dismay are rising around HC Arthur Smith in Atlanta particularly after their 9-7 loss to the #Panthers, per source; though no definitive decision has been publicly relayed on his tenure.
We’ll see how it goes. They face the Colts, Bears & Saints next.

This is the first head coaching opportunity that Arthur Smith has gotten as he worked his way up the ranks with the Tennessee Titans. Since becoming the coach for the Atlanta Falcons in 2021, the team is 20-28 (.417 winning percentage) and has failed to make the playoffs in his tenure.
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank was interviewed earlier today by Jeff Hullinger of the Georgia Public Broadcasting and explained how he feels about coach Arthur Smith.
“We are committed to coach Smith. We are going to play these last three games. We are committed to win. We will let the season play out and go from there. Obviously, this has not been the kind of year we expected. You would hear that from coach Smith; you would hear it from our fans, and our players. We understand that. We understand the challenges. At the end of the year, we will assess where we are and go from there.”
Arthur Smith is going to need to get going and finish the season strong. The Falcons have three games remaining: vs Indianapolis Colts, at Chicago Bears and at New Orleans Saints.
Should Arthur Smith be fired after the 2023 NFL season?
Coach Arthur Smith has been struggling to get going throughout the years leading the Atlanta Falcons. The NFC South was won by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season with a losing record and this year, the Bucs and Saints are tied for the lead at 7-7. The Falcons should be contending for a top seed in the NFC Playoffs.
They have incredible talents on both sides of the field with players like tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London, running back Bijan Robinson and cornerback AJ Terrell just to name a few. With all this talent, they are 26th in the NFL with just 18.4 points per game scored. This team should be among the top teams in the conference and Arthur Smith should lose his job as a result.
