Ashton Jeanty, while already being touted as one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL draft, seemingly has a strong contender in Cam Skattebo, according to Las Vegas Raiders defensive end, Maxx Crosby. Crosby spoke to Adam Schefter on ‘The Rush’ podcast recently, and discussed why he admires Skattebo more than Jeanty.
23-year-old Cam Skattebo is currently playing for the Arizona State Sun Devils after finishing part of his college football career with the Sacramento State Hornets. In his last season with Arizona State, Skattebo managed a total of 293 carries for 1,711 yards, scoring 21 touchdowns for the team.
“I love that guy… Obviously, I love Jeanty, but Skattebo — watching Skattebo in the (Peach Bowl) against Texas, I’m like, ‘This dude’s a f***ing maniac.'” Maxx Crosby said on ‘The Rush’ to Adam Schefter.
Meanwhile, Ashton Jeanty is not kidding himself when it comes to his potential for the NFL. Jeanty played as a running back for the Boise State Broncos from 2022 to 2024. In his senior year with the team, Jeanty contributed 374 carries for 2,601 yards, scoring 29 touchdowns for the Broncos.
Maxx Crosby is definitely the expert when it comes to picking top prospects in the upcoming draft, having played in the NFL since 2019. Crosby has been playing for the Las Vegas Raiders throughout his career in the league after being selected as the 106th pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft. Recently, Crosby was also named the assistant general manager of the Eastern Michigan University’s Athletic Department, with whom he had his college football career.

Ashton Jeanty Pours His Heart Out In Open Letter
It seems like Ashton Jeanty wants to say his piece, or all his pieces, before the 2025 NFL draft. The former running back for Boise State recently wrote an open letter to NFL scouts, spilling plenty of tea about his thought process, mindset and attitude in the write-up.

One interesting point covered in his letter was about Jeanty’s experience in his year-off. The talented footballer spent plenty of time that year in Italy, which apparently shaped his winning attitude. Jeanty credits his experiences in Italy for wanting to ‘open himself up’ a lot more than he did before, which could explain his wanting to write a letter.

As per the latest reports, Ashton Jeanty is strongly expected to end up playing for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2025 NFL season. In the previous season, the Raiders finished at the bottom of the AFC West after winning four games and losing 13 so far.
