How will the Arizona Cardinals build out their roster heading into 2024?
On a roster that undoubtedly needs playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, it’s no secret that the Arizona Cardinals will likely come out of the first-round of the 2024 NFL Draft with a wide receiver.
However, in ESPN’s Matt Miller’s latest mock draft, the Cardinals will be trading back with the Minnesota Vikings and acquiring picks 11 and 23, along with a 2025 first-round selection for pick number four, in next month’s draft. With the 11th pick, the Cardinals will be passing on Marvin Harrison Jr., however securing multiple first-round picks while having a talent-depleted roster, may not be the worst idea in the world.
With their 11th overall pick, Miller has the Arizona Cardinals selecting LSU wideout, Brian Thomas Jr.
“After trading back from No. 4, the Cardinals can still land someone who can become a WR1 and be a top-flight downfield target for quarterback Kyler Murray. Thomas led the nation in receiving touchdowns last season (17) and fills a hole with Marquise Brown off to Kansas City in free agency. Thomas’ vertical speed and catch radius would be great for the Cards, who currently have Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch slotted into the two starting receiver spots.”
Arizona Cardinals’ Up-and-Down 2023 Season
Heading into 2023, the Arizona Cardinals knew they’d be without franchise signal caller, Kyler Murray, who tore up his knee late in the 2022 season. While their 4-13 record may not show it, the Cardinals surprised a lot of people with their knack of keeping just about all 17 games on their schedule close heading late into the fourth quarter.
With Kyler Murray seemingly 100% healthy to go along with scheduled picks four and 27 on the docket in April’s 2024 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals could be in for quite the bounce-back in 2024.
