Amon-Ra St. Brown, wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, was apparently overjoyed with rapper Kendrick Lamar’s performance in his Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday. Lamar indeed performed many of his newly released songs, including a direct diss track to rapper Drake, which fueled many rumors and dinner-table discussions.

Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions finished the 2024 NFL season at the top of the NFC North table with 15 wins and a pair of defeats. The Lions made it to the NFL Divisional Round against the Washington Commanders, but lost the game with a final score of 45-31.

“From the game to the halftime performance, I thought it was whack.” Amon-Ra St. Brown said on the podcast that he co-hosts with his brothers, Equanimeous and Osiris.

“Out of 10, I give him a 6… That ‘Not Like Us,’ I like the way he brought that in, like, ‘Oh you can’t do it, I’m going to get sued,’ they came back to it, that was dope. SZA coming out, was one of the hardest parts, like, she killed it. I don’t know if she was even singing, but she did a good job, and then the ending was good, But the whole first half was trash to me.” he continued later on.

Amon-Ra St. Brown was the 112th pick in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has been with the Detroit Lions ever since. In the 2024 NFL season, the wide receiver managed a total of 115 receptions for 1,263 yards, scoring 12 touchdowns for the team.

On another note, Amon-Ra St. Brown stated that he would like to play against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL 2025 season opener. The Lions have an incredible defense which is simply one of the best in the league. With this in mind, St. Brown believes that the Lions could put up an incredible matchup against the reigning Super Bowl champions.

While the Detroit Lions placed their hopes on their strong defense to take them to the Super Bowl, the team unfortunately was at the receiving end of a number of injuries, including Aiden Hutchinson, Malcolm Rodriguez, and Carlton Davis.

The Detroit Lions did not play against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL 2024 season. Despite their initial struggles, the Eagles finally managed to win against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX with a stunning 40-22 score.
