All Washington Huskies in the AFC

The Washington Huskies have seen success come and go over the past decade. However, no matter how low their season was they always are able to produce NFL talent. Being a big time Husky fan who roots for their alum, I took the time to document all the players currently on an NFL roster who played their college ball up in Seattle. We will start with the Huskies in the AFC, which there are plenty with some important camps coming up.

    Miami Dolphins

Myles Gaskin making a move in the open field
Myles Gaskin is currently one of two Huskies in the Dolphins backfield as training camp approaches in South Beach.

Myles Gaskin is the all time Huskies leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He was the Dolphins leading rusher in 2021 after recording 612 yards on the ground. Having finally had some kind of breakout in his 3rd season, he seems to be on the cutting block. A new coaching regime as brought in Chase Edmonds, Sony Michelle and Raheem Mostert. This leaves Gaskin as the 4th RB on their depth chart and in a fight for a roster spot this summer.

Salvon Ahmed is another Husky running back who is buried on the Miami depth chart following some new additions. He was the back who took over for Gaskin following his 7th round selection in the 2019 draft. Undrafted in 2020 Ahmed managed to gain a roster spot for Miami. Ahmed was able to start 4 games in 2020 due to injury, however saw his carries cut back in 2021. Only amassing 149 yards on 54 touches leaves Ahmed in an even worse off position than Gaskin come cuts.

    New England Patriots

Myles Bryant taking the field for the New England Patriots at Gillett Stadium
Myles Bryant was an undrafted success story for the Patriots defense last year, however his roster spot seems in jeopardy following offseason additions in free agency and the draft.

Myles Bryant was part of the Huskies secondary in 2019 as their Nickel CB. Signed as a UFA Bryant stuck on the Pats roster for 9 games. In 2021 he played in 12 and got 2 starts. He was able to record an interception and 3 pass break ups. However the Patriots have brought in Jack Jones and Marcus Jones in the 2022 draft. Both are players who have size issues and will be looking to play in the slot which is where Bryant has taken most of his reps. Bryant will have an uphill battle to make the roster, currently ranked as the teams 3rd nickel corner.

Tristan Vizcaino was the Huskies kicker from 2014-2017. He’s been bouncing around he league since 2019 as camp kicking competition.

    Denver Broncos

    f4116f48 7055 49d3 8efb
Luke Wattenberg is one of the latest Husky offensive lineman to get drafted into the NFL in recent years.

The Denver Broncos drafted Luke Wattenberg in the 2022 draft. Wattenberg will have to battle in camp for a depth position as the Broncos have established starter Lloyd Cushenberry at center with more veteran options as backups ahead of Wattenberg.

    Kansas City Chiefs

McDuffie was the 21st overall pick in the most recent NFL entry draft and will look to be an immediate starter. I personally had him graded as a top 10 talent in the draft and easily the drafts number 2 corner. If the Chiefs can utilize him in the correct scheme he and L’Jarius Sneed should make one of the best 1-2 punches in the NFL.

    Baltimore Ravens

    USATSI 15053522
Marcus Peters is another installment of top tier corners to come from the Huskies helping the claim that Washington may be one of the underrated DBU’s in the country.

Marcus Peters is coming off a major injury that knocked him out for the entire 2022 season which was a theme for the entire Ravens team. 2 seasons removed form his All-Pro 2019 season Peters will look to make a bounce back. With Marlon Humphrey opposite Peters he will hopefully come in and help reestablish the Ravens as one of the teams to beat in a stacked AFC.

    Cincinnati Bengals

Drew Sample was apart of the 2016 Washington team that made the NCAA playoffs as well as taking a part in the Super Bowl as a member of the Bengals last season

Jake Browning is the record breaking QB of the Huskies of the 2016 team who ended up as the #4 team in the nation. The Huskies all time leading passer is apart of the Bengals roster in the 3rd string role behind Joe Burrow and Brandon Allen. Browning may not make the roster come the end of training camp. Browning should hang around as a smart emergency practice quad quarterback.

Drew Sample has struggled to prove wrong those who called his second round draft status a reach. Following up his 349 receiving season in 2020 with a disappointing 81 yards in 17 games. Struggles in his game has forced the Bengals to use him as a blocking TE exclusively. Bringing in Hayden Hurst as a way to boost receiving productivity has left Sample on a slippery slope. If Sample is unable to improve he may be phased out of the Bengals game plan going forward.

Brendan Radley-Hiles is a nickel corner who transferred from Oklahoma to UW for the 2021 season. Following a decent season he was out the entire 2022 season. The Bengals have signed the undrafted rookie in hopes of finding more depth at interior corner. Radley-Hiles will need to prove his worth on special teams to try and stick on this roster.

    Cleveland Browns

    14754744
Cleveland Browns center Nick Harris is expected to come in and have no drop off in quality for one of the top offensive lines in the NFL.

Nick Harris has been tasked with one of the more daunting tasks for a young player with relatively low starting experience. Following the loss of JC Tretter the Browns looked inside the organization for their replacement. Harris was stowed on the roster since being drafted in the 5th round of the 2020 entry draft. Last year saw some starting action for the young center due to COVID around the Browns lineup in December. Green Bay was the game where Harris was able to stand out for the first time. 2022 should be the year Harris establishes himself amongst the rest of the Cleveland Browns elite offensive line.

    Jacksonville Jaguars

Marvin Hall has bounced around the league landing on the Jaguars Roster heading into 2022 training camp following his stint with the Falcons.

Marvin Hall has been a return man and reserve receiver for most teams he has played for since being a UDFA in 2016. Signed to a contract by the Jaguars in the 2022 free agency period Hall will look to carve out a role on this roster. Whether that is as a return man or at the bottom of the depth chart, potentially both, is left to be seen.

    Tennessee Titans

    njb32fuygmyc0pnwlpfg
Elijah Molden came along as a starter in the middle of the Titans 1st seed season as their nickel corner

Elijah Molden was seen as an undersized corner prospect coming into his rookie season and he was played in the slot as predicted by draft pundits. Although not a full time starter, Molden still should excite Titans fans. Molden has showed growth from his Huskies days and should continue to improve. He may not escape the slot due to his size, however Molden can make the best of it and may become one of the league’s best cover slots in the next few seasons.
