Alabama football will not compete for a College Football Playoff title in 2024. Following a nail-biting Selection Sunday, the Alabama Crimson Tide did not make the CFP, with the three-loss squad idle during championship weekend and the committee opting for the SMU Mustangs for the final at-large bid. Amid Alabama’s disappointing end to their regular season and a berth in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Eve, the transfer portal has played an immediate role for the SEC power.
On Monday, Alabama had three players enter the transfer portal, one day after a trio of Crimson Tide athletes announced their departure. The Alabama football team has lost eight players to the portal since December, according to On3 Sports. Amid the mass exodus of players, Alabama football fans are spiraling with the program’s direction.
Alabama Fans Nervous Over Transfer Portal
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3:
Breaking: Alabama DL Hunter Osborne plans to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells @on3sports.
The 6’4 300 DL will have 3 years of eligibility remaining, is a 4-Star Recruit & held 52 Offers out of HS.
Osborne, a four-star recruit in the class of 2023, will leave Alabama football after tallying three tackles this season. Over the weekend, Alabama lost a duo of junior wide receivers. Kendrick Law and Kobe Prentice, both reserve wide receivers this season who combined for 234 receiving yards and two touchdowns, were both finge five-star receivers coming out of high school, per 247Sports.
Outside of Osborne, Law, and Prentice, Alabama football also lost a trio of defenders: Keanu Koht, Jahlil Hurley, and Jeheim Oatis. Hurley saw the most action, playing in nine games. Although mostly reserve players, Alabama football fans did not take the wave of transfer lightly, especially on the heels of a controversial CFP snub:
