Kalen DeBoer and Alabama have gone crazy this week, and it started on Tuesday night when former freshman starting tackle Kadyn Proctor, who transferred to Iowa this offseason, reentered the portal and decided to return to Alabama after spending two months on Iowa’s campus.
Alabama Landed Two Great Linebackers Back-To-Back Days
DeBoer didn’t just stop with bringing Proctor back. On Wednesday, he landed Darrell “Duke” Johnson, one of the best linebackers in the 2025 class, and on Thursday, another linebacker said he would be joining the Crimson Tide in 2025.
Hayes Fawcett from On3.com states, “Four-Star LB Abduall Sanders Jr. has Committed to Alabama.”
“The 6’1 225 LB that attends Mater Dei HS chose the Crimson Tide over Ohio State & Tennessee.”

According to 247sports.com, Abduall Sanders Jr. is a three-star recruit and 36-ranked linebacker in the 2025 class.
Kalen DeBoer Is Still Loading His Defense
When you think of old Crimson Tide football teams under Nick Saban, you think of great defense, and the linebacker position was one of his team’s best units. Alabama always had great linebackers under Saban, and there was a chance that would change when DeBoer took the job.
DeBoer is one of the best offensive minds in college football, and of course, the offense would be a huge priority when it comes to recruiting. Still, DeBoer has done a great job making defense a considerable deal, and Alabama isn’t skipping a beat.
The Crimson Tide will have a nasty defense when Sanders and Johnson join the linebacker room in 2025, and they may even see playing time as true freshmen.
