The Alabama Crimson Tide shocked the entire football world on Wednesday after announcing that long-time head coach Nick Saban would be retiring. Many football fans did not expect Saban’s departure, especially this soon, so it has stirred up a lot of different reactions. There have been rumors that Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning is the favorite to become Alabama’s new coach, now, it may become a reality much sooner than anticipated.

Alabama Crimson Tide And Oregon Ducks Fans React
According to CBS Sports, Lanning is already in Tuscaloosa visiting with the team. This news comes just a few hours after the rumors about the Ducks head coach jumping ship, and it is now being reported that Lanning took a private plane from Eugene to Alabama, specifically in the town the university is in. Many college football fans seem to think that he will be interviewing for the head coaching job tomorrow morning, while Oregon fans are afraid of losing yet another head coach.

Betrayal To Oregon
Some Oregon fans are convinced that Lanning will remain with the Ducks for at least another year after remembering a quote he said back on November 12 saying, “There’s zero chance I will be coaching anywhere else.” He also hinted to reporters following the Fiesta Bowl that he would be returning in 2024 saying, “I feel like I have unfinished business here. There’s a lot I want to accomplish here.”
I came for two reasons to smoke some stogies and watch the Huskies sh*t the bed, and I ran out of stogies.
While nothing has been set in stone just yet, all the reports indicate that Lanning will soon be the new head coach for the Crimson Tide. Alabama is one of the most intriguing job openings for head coaches in recent sports history, and Lanning could be the one to try and “fill the shoes” of Saban. Will the Oregon head coach leave for Alabama, or will he stay with the team for one more year?
