Aaron Rodgers’ season is reportedly over after his comments Tuesday during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. There was hope Rodgers could return for the New York Jets against the Washington Commanders on Christmas Eve.
Those plans have taken a nose dive after the Jets were eliminated from the playoffs following their blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 15. According to Ari Meirov with the 33rd Team, Rodgers confirmed his season is over.

Rodgers said he’s not 100 percent healed from the Achilles tear he suffered in Week 1. He would have tried to play against the Commanders if the Jets were in playoff contention. Rodgers said he is not trying to push himself to play for the Jets this weekend.
“If I was 100 percent today, I’d definitely be pushing to play. But the fact is, I’m not. I’ve been working hard to get closer,” Rodgers said.
Aaron Rodgers finally puts to rest the notion of him attempting a comeback this season with Pat McAfee.
"I'm still 14 weeks tomorrow from my surgery and being medically cleared as 100% healed is just not realistic." pic.twitter.com/BNjt83KF3I

Rodgers can now rehab and prepare for the 2024 season instead of readying himself to dodge defenders behind a terrible offensive line this season.
It was always a long shot for Rodgers to return for the Jets this season. He made incredible progress for the Jets to open his return window three weeks ago. But now it’s time for the Jets to close that window for the 2023 season.
